ChaltaFarm stands as a leader in dairy production in Iran, known for its impressive scale, advanced technology, and sustainable practices. Spanning over six hectares of agricultural land, our farm is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and infrastructure designed to meet the highest industry standards.

Our integrated dairy complex includes two advanced livestock units, consistently yielding over 260 metric tons of premium fresh milk every day. This high-quality raw milk fuels our milk powder and butter exports, with our factory manufacturing more than 3,000 metric tons of milk powder and 1,800 metric tons of butter each month. A substantial portion of our daily milk output is allocated for the production of IMF (Infant Milk Formula), reflecting our commitment to premium quality and innovation.

Established in 2021 by leading dairy farmers across Iran, Chaltafarm (Shameh Shir) Company is strategically located on a 60,000 square meter site in Pishva City, southeast of Tehran Province — right at the heart of Iran’s vibrant animal husbandry industry.

Our mission is centered around delivering export-quality dairy products that not only meet international standards but also promote responsible energy use for sustainable dairy production. To achieve this, we have adopted an intelligent feed and forage system, forming the backbone of our full supply chain dairy company. Every step of the production cycle is carefully monitored by a specialized team of experts in animal husbandry, agriculture, and the food industry.

Chaltafarm is equipped with advanced dairy production machinery sourced from renowned global brands, enabling us to offer a diverse product portfolio. Our main products include milk powder, butter, frozen cream, and other high-value dairy derivatives under our trusted brands, ChaltaFarm and Shiraland, supplying both domestic and international markets.

With the capacity to process 1,250 tons of raw milk daily, Chaltafarm ranks among the largest dairy producers in the Middle East. Our state-of-the-art powder processing lines deliver a comprehensive portfolio of dairy powders, including Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) — available in HHHS (High Heat – Heat Stable), HH (High Heat), MH (Medium Heat), and LH (Low Heat) forms, both Regular and Instant — as well as Whole Milk Powder (WMP) in Regular, Instant, and UHT varieties. Additionally, we are expanding our product range with innovative offerings such as UHT SMP HH and Fat-Filled Milk Powder (FFMP), addressing the evolving needs of the global market.

At Chaltafarm, our milk powders are meticulously crafted using high-quality milk under stringent quality control standards. With a protein content exceeding 34% and a Total Plate Count (TPC) of less than 10,000, our SMP matches the quality standards of leading EU dairy producers. All products comply with national and international standards, including GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, IRI Standard, and HACCP certifications.

Through strict monitoring of suppliers and expert quality control practices, we maintain minimal microbial load and aflatoxin levels, enabling us to proudly produce infant-based milk powders — a true testament to our commitment to excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness.

Why Chaltafarm Milk Powder

 

In Iran, a longstanding tradition has negatively impacted several dairy producers, leading to the production of low-quality and unhygienic milk for milk powder production. Recognizing the critical role of the health and physicochemical quality of raw milk, we have invested in extensive studies on various types of milk powder. The unanimous finding from these studies is that a quality end product can never be achieved from substandard raw materials.
To tackle this challenge, we have identified that ensuring a seamless chain of quality—from animal feed to the final product—is the only viable solution. Long before the establishment of our complex, we made quality control and monitoring a priority, focusing on enhancing the quality of milk produced by livestock. Our expert team consistently implemented preventive measures to eliminate any health or physicochemical nonconformities, ensuring the highest standards were upheld from the very beginning.

At Chaltafarm, quality control is integral to our operations. We exceed Iran's national standards and maintain a comprehensive quality chain that meets global benchmarks. Our milk powder undergoes the same stringent standards applied to infant milk formula.

For example, each batch of milk powder is tested beyond the requirements of the National Standard of Iran. Our testing procedures include cultivation tests and the possibility of isolating harmful bacteria such as Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens, and Enterococcus faecalis. While the national standard focuses on the total microbial count, coliforms, E. coli, and positive coagulase staphylococcus, our approach provides a more thorough assessment, ensuring superior quality.

We also ensure the optimal temperature control throughout the production process. By maintaining the minimum allowable temperature, we guarantee that our milk powder meets key quality indicators, including Whey Protein Nitrogen Index (WPNI), ensuring high biological value. Our milk powders consistently exceed a protein content of 35%, thanks to our stringent physicochemical processes and non-fat dry matter control.

Our specialized spray dryer tower and low-temperature processing conditions result in milk powders with exceptional solubility, further enhancing the product's quality.

Aflatoxin M1 is another critical concern in dairy production. Aflatoxins are naturally occurring contaminants produced by certain fungi, which can pose serious health risks. Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in animal feed can lead to the presence of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in milk and dairy products. Importantly, aflatoxin M1 is heat-resistant, making traditional pasteurization or boiling ineffective in reducing its levels.

At Chaltafarm, we address this issue with a multilateral approach. We meticulously control aflatoxin levels at all stages of production, with regular monitoring and adherence to strict internal standards for raw milk entering our factory. Our milk powder has consistently shown aflatoxin M1 levels far below the national standard—not exceeding 0.07 μg PPB, while the national standard permits up to 1 PPB in powdered milk.
Our commitment to quality goes beyond the basics. We also test for antibiotics such as sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, and Streptomycin, in addition to meeting the standard requirements for tetracycline and beta-lactam antibiotics in Iran.

Thanks to our unyielding commitment to quality, Chaltafarm's milk powder has become synonymous with excellence in the dairy industry. We meet all the quality standards set by the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU). Despite being a relatively new company, our products are already exported to countries including Syria, Oman, Armenia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Malaysia (Klang Port), and the United Arab Emirates.

For over six consecutive years, Chaltafarm’s two dedicated supplier farms have consistently achieved the highest-level raw milk quality certifications (IMF) from prestigious institutions, including France’s leading organizations and Nestlé Switzerland. Equipped with advanced German-made machinery and driven by a commitment to continuous quality improvement, Chaltafarm has expanded its export presence to markets including the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Syria, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and several African countries. Today, over 80% of our production is exported, with Chaltafarm holding more than 15% of Iran’s total dairy export share in 2023.

Our History

 

The story of Shame Shir Agro-Industry and Dairy Farm, and our longstanding connection with milk, began in 1398. That pivotal year marked the formation of a strategic alliance between farmers and ranchers, giving rise to the Shameh Shir dairy factory. This partnership was designed to strengthen their market position and ensure a reliable outlet for their milk.
In its early days, the factory operated with the support of two livestock units, Chaltasian and Taliseh, which together now supply over 50% of the raw milk used in infant formula production across Iran. With two years of dedicated efforts focused on improving milk quality, the factory began processing approximately 300 tons of milk per day.

A key milestone in our journey was the opening of the Chaltafarm factory laboratory, which introduced a higher level of sensitivity in monitoring the quality of input milk, allowing for reduced assessment periods. This improvement enabled us to adopt stricter standards than the national regulations, ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety for our dairy products.

Today, the factory processes around 500 tons of premium milk daily and produces approximately 40 tons of skimmed milk powder. This substantial output has earned us a leading share of Iran’s milk powder production, reinforcing our position as a key player in the industry.
